Pastor Tom Schuj became pastor of FBC of Clovis in 2013. Tom brought with him a contagious passion for loving people. In fact, he coined the phrase, “FBC Loves Clovis”. Pastor Tom is a gifted expositional (verse by verse) preacher with a passion for people from all walks of life.
Tom’s life has had many challenges. He was a delinquent teenage runaway who was saved in Va. Beach, Va. As a new convert Tom answered the call of God upon his life to preach the Gospel at youth camp and preached his way through Bible College. Tom was a full-time vocational evangelist for seventeen years preaching in some of the largest Baptist churches in America. He authored two self-published books entitled “Called to Conquer” and “The Truth about Troubled Teens”.
In college Tom met and married his first wife Angela Burton and they had two daughters, Elizabeth and Rachel. In 2006, Angela died after years of serious medical problems. Tom remarried Tina Swope, a Godly woman with a missionary’s heart. Tina earned both her Bachelor and Master degrees from Liberty University and she currently works at Parkview Elementary School as a Special Education teacher.
Tom holds a Bachelors Degree in Pastoral Theology from Emmanuel Baptist College, attended Mid-America Baptist Seminary and is one year from completing his Master of Divinity. Tom enjoys spending time with his family, riding Harley Davidson motorcycles, eating Mexican food, and watching the Pittsburgh Steelers, win or lose.
